Teresa Schmidt

I love the spontaneity of gesture, so connected to impulse and intimacy. I employ light, transparency and spatial movement  as I work. Drawing brings to my life a heightened sense of the now.

I am respoinding to inspiration drawn from nature, time and intimacy, feeling the present moment through the work, with the reality that we are alive right this second. The act of drawing is my subject. I work through process to produce contrasts of line, tone and motion in search of an image I can identify with.

Artist Bio
Teresa Schmidt teaches printmaking and drawing at Kansas State University in Manhattan. She has also taught in Washington State, Arbroath, Scotland and Norwich, England as well as guest lectured in numerous states.  Teresa received her BA & MA from Central Washington University in drawing and printmaking and her MFA from Washington State University.
